Valera and Drian begin their marriage in a time of difficulties for both their countries. They have never met until the day of the wedding and must get to know one another during their journey back to Drian's country of Rheanel. Once their they face treason within the court and war without. Valera must cope with being alone at a new court as Drian must return to the battlefield. She learns to face threats that she had never before imagined and knows that her marriage is threatened by both the fact that they had so little time to come to know one another and by the threats to both of them within the court of Rheanel. Valera embarks on a journey of discovery of herself, her marriage, and the strength that she must develop to fight for a marriage that she now wants to survive all their trials. As they fight for their lives Drian and Valera find that their marriage is growing stronger and their love develops into a force that no danger or trial can break. This is a story of two people who learn to stand at each other's side through thick and thin and learn to never allow others to dictate how they survive. They battle against all odds to keep their marriage and the kingdom intact and find peace with each other.
