AM-Pilze und phosphatlösende Bacteira verbessern das Wachstum und den Ertrag verschiedener Feldfrüchte. Sie tragen zum Wachstum der Pflanzen bei und zeigen im Vergleich zu normalen Praktiken eine hohe Ertragsschwankung. Pflanzen können Phosphor nur in löslicher, anorganischer Form verwerten, so dass organischer Phosphor von den Pflanzen nicht genutzt werden kann. Um diesen Phosphormangel in den Böden zu beheben, wird Phosphordünger auf die Pflanzen ausgebracht. Phosphatlösende Bakterien (PSB) sind in Böden allgegenwärtig und wandeln die unlöslichen Phosphate in eine lösliche Form um. AM-Pilze sind obligatorische symbiotische Bodenpilze, die eine wechselseitige Symbiose mit den Pflanzenwurzeln eingehen und die verfügbare Form von Phosphor mobilisieren. Die Beimpfung mit AM-Pilzen und Phosphobakterien fördert also das Wachstum und die Entwicklung der Brinjal-Pflanzen.
