All the Way Up It: Begins Now is an anthology by resident student authors who live in Pico Gardens and Ramona Gardens. This work was a collaboration between the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA), Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and their Community Safety Partnership division (CSP), and Publishing Hope and Branding A+ Behavior (PHABB 5). The resident student authors in this book participated in a rigorous twelve-week creative writing book publishing program. The stories in this book are about characters wrestling with complex issues that ultimately end up obtaining success, but not before an unforeseen event or tragedy rocks their worlds. We hope that you will use the lessons of perseverance and resilience that their narratives offer to encourage someone to strive for success in the face of adversity.
