Tessa Harvey thinks that coming back school after the Christmas Holiday is going to be the same as any other day. But Maggie's fiancé is reluctant to take on fatherhood and when Tess's daughter Maria is just one day old Tess find's herself having to be at Maggie's side for the arrival of her twin girls. Tess watches as her life passes her by and she jumps from a career as a photographer to a teacher, she encounters several trials on her path through life. She watches Maria growing but still the relationship with Elliot remains strong. But when Elliot's health takes a turn for the worst he and Tess are shattered by heartbreaking news. As Tess struggles to cope under the pressure her family and best friends Maggie and Amanda try to make it easier for the couple. But when Maggie is suddenly caught in a road accident and Elliot's health fading fast Tess and Maria have to pull together to stay strong for a weak Elliot.
